When Wellness Got Personal | Why I Started Searching for Simplicity

Becoming a Wellness Seeker

I am a mum of 3, married to fellow co-founder of Welltide, Richard. Together with our other co-founders Emma and Karl, we are wellness seekers - just like a lot of people out there. Our stories and our “why” are all different, but they share the same goal: to help others find simple, effective wellness that fits real life.

When It Got Personal

I’ve always been an everything-in-moderation, look-after-yourself person. But it wasn’t until my son became very sick and was diagnosed with renal reflux at 8 months old that I really dialled in. He was prescribed a small dose of antibiotics for the next two years to protect his kidneys. My mum instinct told me this wasn’t ideal for his little gut, and I began researching ways that antibiotics and natural health could work together.

A Chain Reaction of Health Issues

At the same time, he had an allergic reaction to the sulphur-based antibiotics, which led to eczema, severe gut issues, and the discovery that he was most likely gluten intolerant. I spent ridiculous amounts of time diving into Google, and with help from a lovely naturopath and our local chiropractor, we were able to counterbalance his reactions. Through food, natural wellness products, and chiropractic care, we slowly brought him back to his thriving self.

The ADHD Chapter

Years later, this same child was diagnosed with ADHD. Medication was his choice - and we supported that fully. But we were told about possible side effects like difficulty sleeping, and I wanted to find natural, non-habit-forming ways to help him rest and feel calm, without needing to add more medications to his daily life.

This sparked an ongoing journey to find products that actually work, are good for the whole family, and that support calm, recovery, and restoration - naturally.

The Search for Simplicity

The world is busy. Raising three children is busy. Work life is busy. I don’t have the capacity to remember every capsule, powder, and wellness trend. I wanted wellness that felt simplified, grounded, and good. If all the time I’ve spent researching can help just one other mum, dad, person with ADHD, or wellness seeker who’s just doing their best — then it’s worth it.

Why We Created Welltide

Welltide is our way of supporting others with tools that really work - products that simplify life, improve health, and offer natural alternatives that actually make a difference. We believe in wellness that isn’t overwhelming. Products that are easy to use. Routines that support your life, not run it. That’s what we were looking for - and what we want to share through Welltide.
